I'd like to do a part time language course. Maybe Cantonese so I can move to Hong Kong

The courses on OU look ok, but I don't have the money to do a degree right now.

Everyone keeps suggesting I do an OU course but one of the reasons I want to go to uni is that I have been stuck at home so long! Be nice to meet some new people and have a change of scene. Just wish I could decide what course I want to do. I am leaning quite strongly towards doing a counselling course......I seem to attract people who want to talk about their problems with me..a lot! So why not do it proffesionally? lol
What puts me off is that there are a few counsellor types on urban...and the way they talk to people really makes me cringe sometimes, really patronising imo. Not sure, having never been to a counsellor myself, how different their approaches are...need to look into this

a lot of counsellors suck, i think it needs people who don't suck so don't let the fact that you think a lot of them suck stop you wanting to be a one that doesn't suck

It would take three years I think it is to become a counsellor - a one year certificate and then a two year diploma if I remember right. While doing the diploma you need to do I think 200 hours of (usually unpaid) client work to qualify. Oh and you'd want to do a BACP accredited course - see here for universities that offer courses.
