Children of The Atom

It was 4 years ago today that the Coolestthingever/ChildrenoftheAtom website was started. I set it up as a free forum because I was getting too much stick on urban75 for fucking around and making rubbish jokes rather than representing the UK’s underground scene like they do

It started as a bit of a joke but developed into something quite good. Over the years there have been some sound people come and go, some people have stayed, some people pop in from time to time, but i’m really glad i started it, and I’m proud that we’ve managed to keep it going for 4 years and it doesn’t look like stopping any time soon

We are still just a teeny little board in the big internet, and as anyone who has followed us will know, we aren’t generating anything like the content we were a few years ago, or should be considering that we have so many creative friends and members, but it is still a great place, basically one long drunken conversation between friends

It can feel really lonely on the old internet, I keep this blog going and I know people read it, it would be nice to get a comment or even better if you want to contribute a link or a mix or something would be great

Anything half decent will get posted on the blog and it can’t hurt….

All I want from this site is to have the biggest collection of cool links possible so if you have a site or know of a site that you think we like, please don’t be shy

Grindthieves is a really awesome music blog, the guy who runs it is a great producer, but he also puts up shitloads of great mixes and tunes by others. It’s a real hub for jungley ameny sort of music and all for free….

Top 50 Dystopian Movies

A really good list of dark future films, not sure I agree with the order all of the films are in, but apparently they compiled it by combining ratings from imdb and rotten tomatoes so it’s not just their bad choice…. Either way it’s a really good list of awesome dystopian science fiction movies

Play loads of SNES games in your browser. This works best on Google Chrome if possible, but runs on Java with anything. Decent selection of ROMS and good loading time so great for the bored at work crew

For one reason or another the blog has become pretty defunct lately. I wonder if anyone out there is reading?

YAYYYY!!!!!

We have managed to get our forum back up and running, those responsible have been taken outside and shot, and those who helped get our forum back have been given chunks of land. So there will be quite a few posts on this blog in the next few days as we update on all of the cool stuff we have found and done in the last 2 weeks

To anyone wondering what happened to the forum, we had a bit of trouble with Vbulletin, which we are trying to sort out right now, right now we are back at the old forum

We were very silly, using pirate software etc, we may start a fundraising drive, but the most important thing is that for all of you talking rubbish needs, TCTE is still operating at the link provided

TCRE story forum has just started our first ever story challenge on the forum

The idea is very simple, every month someone chooses an idea for stories, and then everyone writes a story. No competition or rules, just try to stick to the format, although if you don’t it doesn’t matter. So if you like writing stories, please give it a shot

Fairy Tales

A fairy tale relies on two elements,

1. It has to have some element of magic in it, it doesn’t have to be ‘magic’ magic with witches and stuff, a lot of fairy tales just have magic which occurs in day to day life, interpret that how you want. It could just be an amazing ‘coincidence’ since we aren’t a bunch of skanky hippies

2. It has to have some sort of cautionary message. Fairy tales always have a moral at the end, again you can interpret this how you like

Hopefully this will be a way to get people to try and write something interesting. Please don’t feel bound by the rules, if your story takes a different turn, and ends up without any magic or message, just post it anyways
